ABELUNKE, AMELUNCK, AMELUNG, AMELUNKE, COOK, EHMLUNG, WARNER posted by Marcine Lohman on Saturday, January 3, 1998

Edward Harry Heinrich AMELUNG: Born on March 31, 1868 to Christian AMELUNG and Johanna BODENSTEIN and died on March 14, 1960 in Bakersfield, Kern County, California at 91 years of age. Worked for Prudential Life Insurance and traveled alot. Edward was married twice and had children by both wives. First to Alice then to Nellie. Not much can be found on his first wife so I am really looking for anything I can find on her. She must have died before he moved to California in 1922 as he was married to Nellie Cook by then. I know that Edward's youngest daughter was born in Michigan (and have heard the name Saginaw in stories so I'm sure it's here) - I'm hoping to find information on Carl and Mina more than anything. 1st Marriage to Alice (last name unknown): 1. Carl Amelung gassed by Germans in WWI and died soon afterwards. 2. Mina Amelung 2nd Marriage to Nellie COOK: 1. Edward Amelung 2. Richard Miller Amelung, died in 1931. 3. Jack Stanton Amelung, born on March 21, died on November 20, 1965 in Bakersfield, Kern County, California. 4. Marguerite Amelung: Born on April 7, 1904 in Michigan and died on September 4, 1990 in Bakersfield, California. Marguerite married Kenneth Knapp Warner around the time of WWI. He was born March 1, 1902 in Iowa to Charles WARNER and an unknown KNAPP. He died on December 18, 1967. Any information on this family or the COOK and WARNER families they married into is greatly appreciated. I am also compiling a AMELUNG database and any information on the AMELUNG side is very, very much appreciated.

TOMPKINS posted by Phil Anderson on Saturday, January 3, 1998

TOMPKINS, James Nelson or Nelson James is shown in Saginaw city directories 1881 to 1890/91 as miller, then head miller, and finally as foreman at Mayflower Mills. Included is his wife Belle TOMPKINS. These are the only directories available at State Library in Lansing. In 1900 Belle TOMPKINS is shown living in Battle Creek (Calhoun) MI with in-laws -- as a widow. I haven't been able to locate any info on death of James Nelson TOMPKINS. Any help? Many thanks.

CUBBAGE posted by Walter John Kiger on Saturday, January 3, 1998

I am looking for information on my GGGmother's brother who lived in Freeland, his name was Dr. Peter CUBBAGE. I'm not totally sure when the total time span he lived in Freeland, but I suspect it was in the 1860-1880 area. Since the only thing is know is his name and approximate birth date, anything will be new to me. Any help will greatly appreciated.

GAGNIEA, GONYEA, MCGREGOR posted by Patricia Hall on Wednesday, January 28, 1998

I am seeking information about my ggrandfather and ggrandmother, James MCGREGOR and Sophrinia GAGNIEA MCGREGOR. They were residing in Saginaw County in 1878 when their daughter, Elizabeth Adelaid MCGREGOR was born. I have determined that James MCGREGOR was born in Michigan and Sophrinia in New York State. Since their daughter was married in 1899 in Chippewa Falls, WI, it is possible that they moved to Wisconsin in the last quarter of the century. James was a machinist in Saginaw County. In addition, I am trying to locate Jenny GAGNIEA or GONYEA, who was related to the MCGREGOR family. She was living in Saginaw in the 1940s-50s and worked on the G. Mennen Williams gubernatorial campaign. Thank you for any help.
