Comments: Office space allows for three genealogists at one time. Only pencils can be used in the genealogy area. No children, food, or drinks are allowed while searching indexes. Births: 1873 to present. Birth records are available only to the individual named on the birth record (registrant), the parents of the registrant, a legal guardian of the registrant, a legal representative of the registrant or an heir of the registrant. An heir is defined as any relative of a deceased individual. Heirs must supply the date and place of death of the registrant when requesting a copy. This policy is in accordance with MCL 333.2882. Deaths: 1873 to present Marriages: 1867 to present Divorces: 1973 to present

The County Clerk's office has information on marriages after 1867. The Registrar of Deed's office of the Port of Michilimackinac has marriage records from 1785-1865, deeds and other public information which the clerk's office doesn't have. --information submitted by Art Dembinski.
