Full ReportAccident 2 occurred on the 11th day of October. Peter BARTOLETTO a trammer at the Huron mine jumped on the ascending skip which was filled with rock at the 18th level No. 4 shaft. He rode up as far as the first level where he attempted to jump off. At this time the skip was being hoisted about three hundred feet per minute. BARTOLETTO missed the drift and fell down the shaft a distance of twelve hundred feet resulting in instant death. At an inquest held before Justice Perreault of the village of Houghton the jury returned a verdict in accordance with the above facts exonerating the Mining Company.
