Full Report	Accident 1 occurred October 13 1894 in the 36th level near the man-engine shaft Quincy Mine. Richard Beckham met with a serious injury. Having finished his labors for the day he went to the man-engine shaft to await the starting of the engine with the intention of going to the surface. Being compelled to wait a short time for the starting of the engine he went back into the level and sat down on a log of wood to wait. He was hardly seated when a piece of vein rock fell striking him on the back. He at once cried out that his limbs were gone. Upon examination it was found that the injury had produced total paralysis in his lower limbs all sense of feeling there being entirely destroyed.
