  • 1840 Military Pensioners living in the State of Michigan August 2008

  • Rural Directories of Michigan - We have started a collection of rural directories that were done in the early 1900's by the Farm Home Journal. These directories are unique and give names that are not available in city directories. Added October 2, 2007

  • Rev. Nathaniel Dickey Baptisms and Marriages - We found the original ledger of Rev. Nathaniel Dickey for sale in a New York book store. It contains a list of baptisms and marriages the Rev. performed in Ontario, Canada and Michigan, USA. The transcription of the baptisms and marriages are now online and complete but for the Ontario marriages. Added Sept. 2007.
  • County Pages Are Being Added! - County pages are being added for each county with searches set up in our online databases for those who prefer to search by county.  Links to other sites with data are also on these pages. Look in the menu bar at the top of the page under Counties to see which ones are online. New Pages Added December 28, 2006
  • Michigan School Records - NOW 34,137 records. More yearbooks are being formatted and indexed. Some yearbooks have been scanned and images are online and linked within the index. Also, a page of links to other school records that are online for Michigan has been included.  Links to some school censuses have been put online.  Updated October 29, 2006! Wallace Menominee County school added.
  • Coming Soon! - World War I data. We have collected some out of the ordinary data that is about World War I Michigan Veterans. Many contain small biographies of people who served in the war from Michigan. Surnames A are complete and B surnames are nearly done. This will come online when these are finished in the next couple of weeks. September 23, 2006

     
  • Mackinac Early Military Officers - The fort at Mackinac was built in 1714-1715. The first officers recorded started in 1742 and go to 1882, through French, British and United States occupation. August 2006
     
  • Mackinac County Marriage Transcriptions - Starting in 1725 and continuing to be added from various sources such as historical books, parish records, township and county records. - New Records Added August 2006
     
  • Mining Accidents - Transcriptions of the Mine Inspector's Report - These are detailed reports that were turned in by the county Mine Inspector starting in the late 1800's. Colleen has gotten copies of the index pages and is typing them up. Updated July 13, 2006
     

  • Michigan School Records - NOW 34,104 records. More yearbooks are being formatted and indexed. Some yearbooks have been scanned and images are online and linked within the index. Also, a page of links to other school records that are online for Michigan has been included.  Links to some school censuses have been put online.  Updated July, 2006!
     

  • Mackinac County MIGenWeb has been reworked and data is being added to the data already online. This site will have two homes. The main site being at it's original home and a back up site here. The Durant Rolls are fully online for the site plus the 1850 census. Original land claims are going online now with more data backed up to add. If you have Mackinac County data to share please visit the site and let us know. March 2006
     

  • Michigan Volunteers in the Spanish American War of 1898.  Now Complete!  6,893 Veterans listed. The files give the Regiment, company, rank and home town of each.  Updated February 19, 2006.
     

  • Michigan's Place Names - More place names have been added, which are old names that are no longer used or considered ghost towns. This database was added to give Michigan researchers a place to look for a name they have found in a record and find the township and county it was in.  It contains over 5000 named places and visitors have a choice of ways to go through the data. Updated July-August 2006.

     

  • Our Boys In The Spanish American War - History of the Calumet Light Guard & Houghton Light Infantry  published 1900 by Gazette Co., Houghton, Michigan February 2005
     

  • Bay County St. Stanislaus Kostki 50th Jubilee 1874-1925 book and name index.  Over 1250 names online with links to the full page images from the book. This book is in Polish and was published in 1925. It has the pioneers listed and many have birth dates, place of birth and the date they came to Bay City, Michigan.  Updated February 2005.
     

  • Woman's Relief Organization of Michigan - An auxiliary of the Grand Army of the Republic, commencing in 1884 in Michigan.  The organizations proceedings are going online by a generous volunteer for visitors to view.  July 2004.
     

  • Marquette County MIGenWeb - Link is under MIGenWeb on link bar at the top of the page. March 2004.
     

  • Bay, Isabella, Midland, and Missaukee MIGenWeb sites have moved to this server space!  Links are under MIGenWeb on the menu bar on the top of the pages. 
     

  • Michigan Family Group Sheet Project - MIGenWeb has started a collection of family group sheets that have been submitted by site visitors.  You can enter your sheets to be put online.  Monthly updates done.  Over 500 sheets are now online with more coming.  November 2003
     

  • Houghton, Saginaw, Gratiot and Keweenaw County MIGenWeb sites have new databases of marriages, births, directories and deaths-cemeteries added. July 2003
     

  • Fort Custer 1924 Training Camp - Included are names of the men who trained this year at Camp Custer along with their address and home address.  Also, included is a history for each company containing Michigan men, along with a group photo. This database is now complete. Feb. 20. 2003
     

  • Saginaw County MIGenWeb Site - This site is new to this server and has new Saginaw records on it plus the ones put online by past coordinators and volunteer transcribers.  Jan. 2003

  • Michigan Memorials - From the Historical Collections made by the Michigan Pioneer and Historical Society.  These deaths notices that were published in their yearly book have been put into a database starting with the county of Saginaw.  More counties will be added.  You can search names, or counties as many people lived in Michigan counties previously to moving to the Saginaw Valley. Dec. 2002-Jan. 2003
     

  • Ethnic Heritage Section added to site.  DP Camps site is now on this site along with other files of specific ethnic backgrounds for Michigan.  NEW Oct. 2002

  • West Highland Families by Diane Needham - Burials of West Highland Cemetery with family histories on many of them. added May 2002
     

  • Civil War Soldiers of Highland Township, Oakland County - Includes name, birth and death year, cemetery buried with links to the cemetery and families online, enlistment and discharge dates, unit they served in and notes. added April 2002

  • Livingston County - Another file has been added to the site for the county so an index page was created so you can access all the files that pertain to the county from it.  Gardner Cemetery was donated by Diane Needham for researchers to use.  Please make sure you contact her if you find a link. added April 2002
     

  •  Needham Files - Transcriptions of four files have been donated by Diane to for Michigan researchers. Cemeteries and family research of those buried in them for two Oakland county burial grounds.  Also, the Civil War Soldiers of Highland Township has been compiled by Diane and gives information on the cemetery buried in, the unit they served in plus enlistment and discharge dates.  And to top it off the birth and death year of each.  These files are being configured to go online, but you can read the introductions now. added April 2002
     

  • 1901 Imperial Atlas of Gratiot Co. Michigan - Index of Landowners - 5,624 names of people that owned land in 1901.  Gives name, section and township where it is located.  Maps are now online also.  added April 2002
     

  • Skeletons in Michigan's Closets - Newest data added in January 2002.  A list of the prisoners held in the Michigan State Prison from 1847 to 1885.  Gives the year of their incarceration, county they came from and the age at the time.  Some files have death dates included and other small details.  May add more on at a later date as time allows. 
     

  • GLS- Downward Bound - New photo gallery added. Historical shipping photos that center on the people for the main part. 
     

  • Houghton County Cemeteries - Three new cemeteries online. 
     

  • Gratiot County Photo Gallery - Programming that is being created and beta-tested for release for use by genealogy and history sites.  The Gratiot Co. researchers have sent in their photos for it, so take a tour of some interesting scenes and people of the past of the middle of Michigan.
     

  • Biographies and Obituaries - Forum Boards for Gratiot, Great Lakes Shipping, Houghton, Isabella, Keweenaw, Michigan Civil War and Missaukee.  You can read or submit your biographies and obituaries for these MIGenWeb sites here.
     

  • Keweenaw County Marriage Transcriptions are now data based and in a user friendly format with new records added to 1876. Ongoing project Updated 10 Nov. 2001.

  • Gratiot County Marriages  These transcriptions start at the earliest time that the records were collected, before 1867.  Ongoing project.

  • Father Patrick O'Kelly's Parish Registers - These records cover the years 1843 through 1859 and are baptisms and marriages. From the following churches: St. Patrick's Church, Pinckney, Livingston Co. - St. Joseph's, Green Oak, Livingston Co.  - St. James', Hartland, Livingston Co.  - St. Andrew's, Deerfield (Center), Livingston Co.  - St. Patrick's, White Lake, Oakland Co.  - St. Thomas, Pontiac, Oakland Co.  - St. Patrick's Church, Bunker Hill, Ingham Co. - Completed

  • The 1883 Michigan State Pensioner's  List is going online. The northern part of Michigan is done and searchable. These are listings for anyone collecting a military pension in the year 1883. Completed

  • Michigan Deaths and Early Michigan Births are online! To compliment the Dibean's Marriage Database MFHN has created a Death and an Early Births of Michigan databases. Forms are online so you can enter your records to share with others. The more people who participate the better the chance of you finding your records online some time in the future.  These both contain files but there is room for more!  Launched: 05 June 2000 

  • Civil War 1890 Veteran's and Widow's Enumeration for Michigan. This database is starting to add some material.  Alpena Co., Isabella Co. and Presque Isle Co. are all complete and online.  Gratiot Co. is partially finished.  We have had to change our goals on this database.  The files are extremely hard to read and take too long to transcribe to look at doing all counties as first planned. Only selected counties will be done.  

  • Great Lakes Shipping Captains Database - This is an ongoing project that I started last year.  Using material that I have picked up at antique book dealers, and auctions and entering data on the Captains of Great Lakes.  This database has entries for 1900 done and 1911 is being worked on.  Over 2,700 names and records are in this file.    

  • Ross Collection Files - Dick and June Ross have been collecting data on people who were born in Cornwall, England and migrated to Michigan to work in the mining district of the Upper Peninsula.  The collection is huge and going online.  Obituaries, newspapers transcriptions, births, deaths, marriages, employment records, cemetery transcripts, and census material are a part of their collection.  The main part of the collection can be accessed at:  Houghton Co. USGenWeb   A database was created from the Calumet and Hecla Mine Employment records of the Cornish as a separate test.

  • Dibean's Michigan Marriage Database - We have been working with the Dibean's since the end of last year to get all of the marriages in their database online.  We are almost there.  Many Michigan USGenWeb and ALHN county sites along with MFHN have taken on the records for their county.  Over 3000,000 records are in Jack and Marianne's database.  This database is updated at the beginning of each month, due to the upload time.  Over 70,000 are on this site.  Any that were not adopted by them were put into a searchable database on this site.
