Electric Autolite Company, Inc.
Both of my parents worked at the Electric Autolite Company in
Bay City, Michigan. My father
came up from Toledo in 1936-1937 to start the factory with many other
Maumeeans.
He use to
say that there was only one stop light in town when he came. My mother
came "into town"
from her parents farm in Garfield Township to work for the
company.
The following, are photos
that I found while cleaning out my mother's drawers
after
her death in October of 2003. If you
have pictures, information, or can
identify any of the
people in the photos,
please contact me,
Donna Hoff-Grambau.
Some of the mens names that I remember are Paul Haas, Paul
Gilmore, R. "Doc" Wineman
(Ruth's father), Bruno Leinert (from Argentina, who also worked as a manager at
Bay
City Mercy Hospital), Henry Webb, Dick Zielinski, Dick Spencer, JohnW. Lee,
Lee Massey and his son Stanley
Massey and Cliff Legacy. Many others whose names have
receded in my memory.
I am particularly interested in identifying the women in the pictures,
who were friends of
my mother's. I hold many fond memories of these people who shared a
community
built around the factory. If you have stories to tell, photos or anything
else
to share,
please do!!!
