Private Mattson in early life had been a circus man, and the roving outside life was but a continued series of experiences for him. He would relate incidents in his life on the road which amused the boys very much.
He was a cannoneer during our activities in the lines.
His having been accustomed to living with a number of men in an organization made him a naturally agreeable companion. |
